The story of Classic Home Building & Design began a generation ago when President Susan White inherited her love for the industry growing up in a lovely “Cape Cod” style home her mother designed and her father built.  As an adult, she passed this love to her son, Berkley – who spent his childhood learning the trade on an endless parade of job sites as his parents pursued successful careers in construction, development and real estate sales.

As co-founders of Classic Homes, Susan and Berkley have joined forces as a formidable mother/son team.  Their education, experience and intrinsic understanding of the business are complemented by the skills of Berkley’s wife, Kim, who earned degrees in architectural drafting and building construction.  Simply explained, Classic Homes is a full-service builder that specializes in custom homes.  From site analysis and home design to house orientation and interior details, they take pride in advising and assisting with every stage of the home building process.

Their family and business has continued to grow as new members join the Classic team.  Today, there are over 20 members specializing in Construction Management, Interior Design, Architectural Design, Cabinet Design, Materials Assessment and Office Management.  Sub-Contractors are considered part of their extended family.  Classic Homes chooses Sub-Contractors that operate with similar principles and that strive to be part of the Classic Team.  In fact, Classic is known for its high level of sub-contractor loyalty.

As industry peers and satisfied clients will attest, building houses is a secondary priority for Classic Homes.  Instead, they concentrate on building relationships.  “We build homes, not houses,” explains Berkley.  “If we can succeed at capturing a client’s vision, we add immeasurable value to the end product.  And, if we deliver an end product that is better than expected, we are assured of solid, lifelong relationships with the people who entrusted us with their dreams.  That is our ultimate goal.”  That conviction… along with obvious talent and enthusiasm for the business and years of hard-won experience keeps Classic Homes’ customer list growing.
