Myrtle Beach, SC–Classic, led by Susan White and Berkley White of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has announced the area’s second Southern Living Custom Builder Showcase Home, the first for Georgetown County.
Located at 961 Tuckers Road in Litchfield Plantation, Pawleys Island, this Classic lowcountry home is located on a spacious lot nestled among the oaks and near the area’s best golf courses and amenities.
‘The River Run’, from Southern Living’s Classic Homes Collection, is adapted from a plan designed by renowned architect, John Tee. Its ample 2494 square feet will be comprised of three bedrooms, three and one-half baths, a two-car garage, bonus room, and gourmet kitchen. In true lowcountry style, the home is accented with an elegant front entry porch, an outdoor living area with fireplace and a detached boathouse or workshop.
Classic, a member of Southern Living’s prestigious custom builder program for over ten years, broke ground on the Litchfield location in late 2016 and will hold its initial press conference on March 28 at 10:00 a.m. “We are proud to be a Southern Living Custom Builder and equally proud to build this beautiful home. We look forward to its introduction to the Georgetown community,” said Berkley White of Classic.
“It is an honor to work with Classic on a project that has so much potential for our region,” said Beth Stedman, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. Their identification of Georgetown County as the locale for this home is a real coup for our entire area. “It presents an opportunity to showcase our beautiful lowcountry and promote the connection and power of community,” Stedman continued.
The River Run will be open for tours August 18 – September 10 with holiday tours scheduled for November 3-19.
In keeping with the Southern Living tradition, tours and events held at the showcase homes benefit both a national and local charity. The designated national charity will be ‘Operation Finally Home’ while Classic has chosen ‘Teach My People’, a non-profit centered in Georgetown County, as the local recipient. Well known throughout our region, their mission is to teach children and youth in the Waccamaw School District to overcome academic, economic and social challenges through the delivery of Christ-centered programs and services.
“We could not be more excited,” said Rose Anne O’Reilly, Executive Director of the Horry Georgetown Homebuilders Association. “This beautiful Southern Living Showcase Home is an indicator of a much-improved local economy and the capability of builders like Berkley White of Classic. The upswing of new residential construction and home sales are huge economic indicators. Not only is the building industry impacted, but service industries within our area including banks, mortgage companies, and others feel the positive effect.” continued O’Reilly.
“Ms. O’Reilly makes a very important point concerning the real estate and related industries’ economic impact on the region,” said Rob Salvino. Ph.D., research economist and associate professor at CCU and associate director for the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development.
“In 2016, Horry and Georgetown County recorded 4,147 single family building permits for new homes, compared with only 2,211 permits four years ago. At a median new home price of $233,846 in 2016, the volume amounts to $969.8 million of real estate value, more than a two-fold growth in value from 2012. Returning jobs and income have been the hallmark of the housing recovery. From 2012 to 2015, the latest yearly jobs data available by industry, 1,584 construction jobs were created in the two counties, with a $77 million increase in aggregate wages,” Salvino continued.
Classic’s 2012 Southern Living Custom Builder Showcase Home, built in the Grande Dunes, welcomed more than 3,500 visitors from throughout the US and abroad and generated over $14,000 for charity. Partnerships were forged with 50 local vendors and suppliers and nine national sponsors.
While sponsorships with local vendors and suppliers are yet to be established for 2017, national partners will include American Standard/DXV, Marvin/Integrity Windows and Doors, AZEK Building Supplies, Belgard, Sherwin Williams, Lennox, JamesHardie, and Wellborn Cabinets.
“The impact of a Southern Living Custom Builder Showcase Home is tremendous,” said Berkley White. “It is rewarding to know that this home will have a lasting effect on not only Horry and Georgetown Counties, but other communities within our area, as well,” he said.
Classic, comprised of the well-known mother/son team of Susan and Berkley White, has built more than 900 homes in the Carolinas and has more than 50 years of combined experience in home building.
